Scholastic Book Clubs -Online Ordering

Online Ordering Information

Web address: scholastic.com/bookclubs

Class Activation Code: DGFDW

Now it's easier than ever to find the right books for your child — and help us earn FREE books for our classroom library at the same time!

With new online ordering from Scholastic Book Clubs, you can choose from a much wider selection of books than in the printed flyer. Plus, you can send your orders directly to me online and use your credit card.
Best of all, our class earns a FREE book every time a parent places their order online.
It's so simple! Here's how it works:
SIGN UP at www.Scholastic.com/bookclubs. On the parent page, click the "Don't have a User Name and Password?" link, then register for your own username and password. When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation Code shown above. This code ensures that your order is sent to me.
SELECT the books you'd like to order from over 500 titles available online...and take advantage of online-only specials and discounts.

SEND your order to me online by the due date. Books will be delivered directly to our classroom, as always.
Of course, you can still order using the form from the printed flyer. But why not experience for yourself how convenient it is to order online?

Ordering online is fast, easy, and secure. Plus our whole class benefits thanks to the FREE books we'll earn with every parent online order.
Go to www.Scholastic.com/bookclubs now to get started.

I have left the online ordering for September open through the end of the month.  I do not want to interfere with the sales we could make for our Pima Butte Book Fair. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Ms. Palmer

Tuesday Folders 08/17/10

Just a reminder parents... Please read your child's agenda closely. Every day, students write the homework that is due for the following day in their agenda. There is a daily Phonics Journal assignment (with exception of Day 6 and Day 7), Completion of Mad Minutes (math facts), and a math page to correlate with the daily lesson. There is also 20 minutes of required reading. Also, if your child did not finish their weekly classwork this will become homework over the weekend (they are given substantial time to finish these assignments in class). By signing your child's agenda, you are acknowledging that all assignments have been completed. Please remember that the reading log must be signed as well. I am having several children say, “My Mom (or Dad) forgot to sign it.” I am trying to get away from this particular excuse. If your child forgets any of these assignments (reading log, homework, mad minutes, etc.) they will be held accountable and move to yellow. We are trying to teach them to not blame it on anyone else. This means they get a note home explaining why they received a yellow, orange, or red. This allows there to be open communication between parents and myself. I do appreciate when the consequences are carried over at home, but of course, this is up to you. However, this helps to reinforce responsibility, organization, and communication. This keeps the expectations high for the students and allows for a consistency throughout their day. Responsibility and expectations are two very important concepts that they will be faced with continuously throughout their life. What's so great about Pima Butte is that it is consistent throughout all of the grades. Most of these students were held accountable in kindergarten and 1st grade, as they are now.

I do have an open door policy. However, please visit with me before or after school, or make an appointment to see me at another time. It is difficult to meet with you when students are in the classroom and I am teaching. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Tuesday Folders 08/03/10

We kicked off the week with a great first day back! Welcome to everyone, I am excited for the year ahead. Meet the Teacher was a huge success, however, I am still getting to know names and put them with faces. Please don’t take it personally if I forget you at first, I promise I will remember you soon. I’m just sending a short note home to remind you that information will come home with your student on Tuesdays, you do not have to sign or return this page, it is information only. Please make sure that you go through your child’s folder each Tuesday. I will be sending home work that was completed and graded from the last week in class. If you have any questions about skills or assignments that have come home, please do not hesitate to ask. I will try to make sure that all notes come home on Tuesday as well. However, there may be days that notes are urgent and must go home on a specific day.

Notes for Today:

 Reading Logs and agendas need to be signed each evening.

 Calendars will be sent home at the end of the week with phonics journal due dates and other important classroom dates.

 Our classroom blog is up and running, here is the website again in case you need it: http://mspalmerroom10.blogspot.com/

 I noticed there was a typo on my email address to reach me at school. The correct address is dpalmer@musd20.org

Supplies Needed

Due to the bad cold and flu season that we have experienced this year, our classroom is in need of tissues after the holiday break.  If you can please send one box of tissue with your child, I think this will get us through the remainder of the year.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome Back Mustangs!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and relaxing winter break.  It's hard to believe that we are ready to start a new year.  I am very excited to start school on Monday morning bright and early.  There will be many important notes coming home on Monday in homework folders.  Please make sure to review everything.  I am sending home a reminder of my homework contract to be signed and returned no later than Wednesday, January 06, 2010.

Please remember that I will be out from Wednesday, January 06 until Tuesday, January 19th.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Hayes.  Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Mott will also be available if you need anything.  I will be checking my email from home while I am out, and try to respond as quickly as possible.  Thank you in advance for your support.
